The Upper School Counseling team includes:2 PSE counselors

3 College counselors

2 Nurses (each part time)


Requirements:


  • Minimum 5 years experience in personal/social/emotional counseling in an inclusive International School
  • Qualifications in one or more of school counseling, school psychology, child and youth psychology and/or social work.
  • Highly effective communicator with parents, students, teachers, administrators, admissions officers

The Personal / Social Counselor:

- provides short-term individual and group counseling which addresses personal, academic, social, or behavioral issues
- develops, documents and delivers a proactive, prevention-based counseling/health and wellbeing curriculum for all grade levels
- participates as a member of the Student Support Team to identify and support struggling students
- assists students with the development of realistic personal, social, and academic goals
- participates as a member of the Upper School Child Protection Team
- assists families with referrals to outside agencies and specialists
- liaises with outside specialists and agencies to ensure student safety and wellbeing
- coordinates the orientation of new students
- supports students transitioning to or from the Upper School
- designs and delivers orientation and transition events
- oversees the Student Ambassador Program
- promotes positive partnerships between home and school
- collaborates with Grade Level Leaders to best support the Advisory Program
- offers workshops for parents and professional development for ZIS faculty on child/adolescent development, transition and other relevant topics
