Position Title: Clinical Neuropsychologist Employment Type: Maximum Term Part Time till April 2022 Hours per week: 32 Position Grade: Psychologist Year 1 to 5 Salary: 97,543.00 - 119,623.00 Enterprise Agreement: The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations' Professional & Associated Staff Agreement 2009 Department Name: Older People’s Mental Health Service Position Summary: The Older People’s Mental Health Service is a specialist service established for the assessment and treatment of older people with mental health presentations. The prevalence of cognitive impairment is elevated in this population due to the increased incidence of dementia, delirium, and the impact of chronic mental health conditions across the lifespan. The Clinical Neuropsychologist will primarily assess and interpret neuropsychological test measures, demonstrating expertise in using best-practice evidence-based assessment protocols in order to answer complex clinical questions around underlying neuropathological processes and navigate issues of decision-making capacity. A key part of the role will involve communicating results of testing in a collaborative manner with service consumers, multidisciplinary team members and external stakeholders including NCAT and NDIS in order to provide comprehensive mental health assessment and management. The clinician will be involved in recommending and facilitating treatment and management plans and advocating for appropriate services to meet the cognitive needs of consumers. The clinician will also work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to fulfil intake duties, conduct initial mental health assessments in a diverse population of older adults with complex mental health and social challenges, and support colleagues in meeting consumers’ treatment needs throughout their treatment journey. In addition to these core clinical duties, the Clinical Neuropsychologist will be involved in supporting OPMH clinical research programs to investigate the efficacy of neuropsychological interventions, and providing research support to peers and team members in other research undertakings. The employee will also contribute to the development of training programs to educate peers and other health care workers around cognitive aspects of older people’s mental health, and provide supervision to students and peers. The clinician will provide ongoing consultation and liaison to internal and external stakeholders around service development and provision of neuropsychological services for eligible older people. This position requires a Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children's Guardian. Recognised post-graduate qualifications in Clinical Neuropsychology, full psychologist registration with AHPRA and specialist endorsement in the area of Clinical Neuropsychology. Knowledge and experience in conducting neuropsychological assessments and report writing, demonstrated by competence, initiative, innovation, responsibility and professional recognition. Knowledge of and/or experience in assessing decision-making capacity. Commitment to liaising and supporting consumers and facilitating consumer involvement in the development of their own treatment/management plans within a recovery framework. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
