We are looking for a data architect to join our data engineering team.

Isomorphic Labs is a new Alphabet company that is reimagining drug discovery through a computational
- and AI-first approach.

Your impact:

This is an exciting opportunity for you to work on a greenfield ML-based software platform that will transform the biopharmaceutical world as we know it.

Working in a highly creative, iterative environment, you will be partnering with leading engineers, scientists and ML researchers to build the critical platform driving that transformation.

This is a newly created role and you will need to use your previous experience and show initiative in order to fully carve out your contribution.

What you will do:

• Play a central handson role in designing and building Isomorphic Labs' cloudbased data platform.
• Define and implement data governance solutions to ensure data freshness, quality, consistency, discoverability, security and compliance.
• Design the architecture and write software for the platform's components.
• Design and deploy solutions for dataset version control and lineage tracking.
• Contribute to developing a data lake / lakehouse, centralizing some of Isomorphic Labs' main data assets, and making them available for consumption by machine learning workflows.
• Work with interdisciplinary stakeholders to create and maintain data models.
• Provide documentation, guidance and communication on the data platform to the wider organization.
• Partner and collaborate with a diverse set of teams incl. science, ML research, product, business development and operations.

Skills and qualifications:


Essential:

• Experience with the architecture of data intensive systems in a machine learning context
• Experience with building data governance and data lifecycle management solutions
• Handson experience building secure/scalable platforms on cloud
• Strong knowledge of data management tools and technologies including ETL frameworks, orchestration systems, database engines, and object stores
• Software engineering experience with software design / architecture skills
• Strong programming experience in a language such as Python, Java, Scala, C/C++ or Go
• Demonstrate ongoing career progression / trajectory and a passion for learning
• Either a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have:

• Basic knowledge of biology / chemistry
• Experience with life sciences data, including bioinformatics, computational chemistry, and biomedical research
• Experience with modern data platform solutions such as Databricks, Snowflake or equivalent
• Experience working with life science ontologies
• Experience with machine learning
• Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, ideally with a focus on drug discovery
• Experience building, deploying and maintaining production systems on GCP
• Strong experience in Python
• Exposure to data curation
