Job description:

In collaboration with a small NPP team, the Head of New Product Planning is accountable for establishing the business case for each R&D project considering key dimensions, such as unmet medical need, the competitive environment, market size, market structure and barriers for acceptance.

This challenging and diverse position will include the following tasks and responsibilities:

Establishes a comprehensive business case assessment for all assets entering the R&D portfolio in collaboration with project team members.
Provides strategic guidance and commercial expertise to research and early development teams.
Represents the New Product Planning function at the core/project team level, as well as in project review committee meetings.
Ensures that the project teams continually validate the viability of the underlying business case for all R&D programs at prespecified milestones and as significant changes or opportunities arise.
Reviews and analyzes emerging data objectively to highlight opportunities and risks. Works with team members to maintain a comprehensive and uptodate understanding of the competitive environment in the field and continuously assesses the potential impact on ongoing programs.
In collaboration with portfolio management and project teams, maps attractiveness of portfolio assets relative to each other and supports the project prioritization process across the R&D portfolio.
Stays abreast of professional information, industry trends, and emerging technology through conferences, medical literature, and other available training

Requirements:

For this challenging position you should bring along:

Degree in life sciences required; advanced degree preferred (e.g. PhD, MBA).
Relevant experience: minimum of years at e.g. a top VClike investor and part of the investment analysis group or from a New Product Planning setting in a biotech company with complementary expertise in a discipline associated with market access and/or commercialization; ideally experienced in multiple areas of the industry.
Sound leadership experience in a managerial as well as in a matrix setup.
Strong strategic thinking, collaboration, facilitative leadership, and problemsolving skills.
Ability to build strong collaborative relationships with project team members and executives.
Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
