Facilitate Alcon's compliance with trade compliance laws globally. Initiate, lead and implement initiatives to ensure that Alcon Pharmaceuticals Ltd. ("APL") complies with relevant customs regulations in accordance with Alcon's corporate-wide Global Trade Compliance policies and processes.


Activities include:
strategic projects, strategic trade compliance analyses, cost mitigation, KPI management and reporting. Reports to Alcon's Director of Customs Compliance.


Major Accountabilities:

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure APL's compliance to customs requirements in all jurisdictions where APL operates as importer including the EU and Singapore.
  • Develop and lead the execution of self-auditing programs to ensure transactional compliance and to assess risk areas.
  • Design, implement, and revise as appropriate APL's customs compliance processes and work instructions including entry operations; valuation; regulatory import and reporting requirements; classification; trade programs and agreements. Drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage customs brokers/agents acting on behalf of APL.
  • Prepare and deliver training on customs compliance requirements to stakeholders engaged in transactions related to APL's activities.
  • Monitor and provide advice on laws and regulations related to APL's customs and export compliance activities; determine and communicate the impact of proposed legal and regulatory changes and work with affected stakeholders to determine appropriate response to proposed changes.
  • Evaluate and assist in implementation of trade compliance software systems as appropriate.
  • Provide technical, strategic, and operational directive to APL's management teams; make recommendations and provide resolution where applicable.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership both within Alcon and with outside stakeholders such as government authorities, customers, and service providers.
  • Perform other duties in support of Alcon's Global Trade Compliance program

Requirements:


Education:
Higher education in International Trade, Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain, or Law

Languages:
Excellent English skills required. Fluency in German a plus.

Minimum seven years in role with regional responsibility in Europe in a multi-national company including operational customs management.

Strong interpersonal skills; experience working cross-functionally and cross-culturally in a fast-paced, large, multinational corporation.

Strong communication skills - ability to communicate complex customs requirements succinctly to various audiences.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to independently manage multiple projects to short deadlines.

Strategic planning, problem solving and tactical implementation skills.

Ability to develop and implement process improvements; experience with SAP and GTS a plus.

Experience in medical device industry a plus.
