As a Head of Strategic Development, you will upport IOC leadership in the development and implementation of the IOC strategic roadmap and support IOC leadership in fostering collaboration across the organisation acting as an agent of change and transformation.


Main responsibilities
Strategic development

  • Support IOC leadership in the development of the strategic roadmap.
  • Drive consultation process with stakeholders as needed in collaboration with stakeholders' departments.
  • Translate strategic roadmaps into priorities for the organisation.
  • Based on IOC priorities, support the director general in the development of adhoc strategies to support the strategic roadmap.
  • Provide external trends analysis to inform IOC decisions and drive innovation within the portfolio of activities.
  • Conduct opportunity and feasibility studies.
  • Establish the corporate roadmap around key dates within the organisation in order to leverage institutional meetings (Executive Board and Commissions) and operational meetings (President-Directors meeting, Directors' meetings, Senior Managers' seminars) to implement the plan.
Planning

  • Define the methodology to draw up the fouryear (Olympiad) and annual plans.
  • Coordinate the planning process leading to priorities, objectives and key initiatives of the departments and ensure they contribute to IOC missions, roadmap and priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Finance and Human Resources Departments during the Plan & Budget process and contribute to the preparation of documents for decisionmaking.
Portfolio management

  • Translate the plan into a consistent portfolio, ensuring realistic and balanced resource allocation and setting the framework for an effective monitoring.
  • Enable the effective implementation of the plan, working with all departments and on crossfunctional matters.
  • Support effective steering mechanisms to ensure the integrated and optimized delivery of the plan.
  • Oversee the IOC's projects portfolio (formalisation, monitoring, reporting and debriefing) with a view to finding correlations between projects and maximising synergies.
  • Focus on IOC's key initiatives and corporate programmes (tailored governance implementation, guidelines, review of associated risks, implementation monitoring, direct link with programme managers, ex post facto analysis of the delivery of the expected benefits, etc.).
  • Review and regularly update with departments the IOC services portfolio (services portfolio per entity), identifying interfaces, duplications and potential synergies so as to put forward proposals to optimise the organisation's activities, in conjunction with Human Resources in particular.
  • Ensure change management and transformation initiatives to align organisation and activities to new strategic priorities.
Transformation and evolution of the organisation

  • In collaboration with departments and HR, continuously investigate potential ways to improve how the organisation operates (synergies, collaboration, governance, etc.).
  • Support the internal change and optimisation programmes in a view of making the IOC an even more effective and sustainable organization.

Our requirements

  • Postgraduate diploma (Master's, MBA, etc.) or professional experience deemed equivalent to this.
  • Significant experience in the field of management consultancy, strategic planning, corporate development, project management organisation, etc.
  • Experience in driving organisational transformation initiatives in multicultural context
  • Mother tongue English or French, with excellent oral and written knowledge of the other language.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • English or French fluency, with excellent writing and speaking of the other language.
  • Excellent command of the corporate tools and ability to follow the internal user rules (Outlook, etc.).
  • Demonstrated management experience to motivate, lead, guide and make individuals and teams autonomous by developing and encouraging a shared vision of the strategic objectives and priorities.
  • Ability to establish a realistic, clear and efficient course of action, to achieve individual or joint objectives.
  • Demonstrated skills to build relationships with stakeholders and other partners, including the ability to work productively with individuals at the operational as well as strategic and governance levels.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills with a capacity of creative problem solving.
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing and highly political environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and speak in public.
  • Confident working in and across a matrixed organisation structure to deliver successfully.
