Financial Accountant - Reinsurance
For our client, a well-established Reinsurer group, we are currently looking for a financial accountant.


The company is seeking professional, self-motivated applicants for the role of Financial Accountant to be responsible for providing assistance to the European Controllers in all accounting areas.

Responsible for supporting the financial accounting, internal controls, budgeting and financial reporting for the company as appropriate based on a specific function area.


The role will have close interaction across multiple functional areas of the business and work with the wider European and Global Finance Team to add value across relevant business areas and teams.


Your responsibilities

  • Financial Performance and Analysis_
  • Prepare financial analysis and performance reports for both local and group entities
  • Support the annual budgeting process and other financial plans for management information
  • Consolidate budget for distribution to stakeholders within the Group.
  • Support business partnering to add value across relevant teams
  • Engage with miscellaneous project work and provide general assistance to the Finance Department and other functional areas as necessary
  • Regulatory Reporting_
  • Preparation of accurate financial reporting, both for internal and external purposes following required GAAP and regulatory standards. Specific focus on FINMA regulatory returns including Swiss Statutory Financials, Annual survey, financial conditioning report (finance sections), GIMAR, etc.
  • Assist the wider European and Global team with support on regulatory reporting and statutory financial statements.
  • Prepare and review quarterly Swiss National Bank surveys
  • Assist with completing aspects of the daily, monthly and/or quarterly close.
  • Work with relevant partners to ensure accuracy of transactions and financial disclosure.
  • Support the continued enhancement and ongoing development of multiple financial systems ensuring that all Finance needs are met.
  • Other tasks as necessary to support day to day functioning of accounting.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors

Your profile & required qualifications

  • Professional/Technical competences:_
  • Experience within (re)insurance industry and FINMA regulatory reports (i.e., 23 years)
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, incorporating SEC and SOX experience
  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger systems and policy administration/accounting systems
  • Any International reporting experience (beneficial)
  • Basic _competencies:_
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work on own initiative and complete work in a methodical, thorough, and organised manner
  • Excellent numerical skills and keen attention to detail
  • Strong Excel skills essential
  • Be an efficient and effective team member and participate fully to achieve team goals
  • Strong accounting systems skills
  • Flexible and willingness to invest additional time during busy periods
  • Educational/

Professional Requirements:

  • Professional accounting designation (ACCA qualified or Swiss equivalent (SachbearbeiterIn Rechnungswesen)
  • Audit practice experience (preferred)
