About This Role


As the Head of Tech Transfer, you will lead a dynamic global team, setting and maintaining standards, best practices, and management tools throughout all phases of Tech Transfer (TT).

Your expertise in TT regulations and best practices will be key in ensuring a best-in-class transfer process.

As a vital member of the Global Manufacturing Sciences Leadership team, you will have the opportunity to lead or support strategic initiatives, both departmental and site-wide.

Your role involves empowering and deploying team members, making impactful decisions with a sense of urgency, combining technical depth with project management discipline, managing conflicts, and prioritizing requests from all levels of the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Build and lead a highperforming tech transfer team, defining vision, goals, and priorities aligned with departmental and corporate objectives. Regularly assess individual and team performance, adjusting as needed. Create a succession plan for seamless tech transfer function continuity. Supervise direct reports.
  • Lead, facilitate, or coordinate tech transfer activities from process fit to project closeout. Ensure seamless collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners for manufacturing readiness and project success.
  • Drive optimization projects to enhance business processes. Lead implementation and monitor the effectiveness of improvements, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within tech transfer teams.
  • Champion tech transfer in departmental and site leadership teams. Present project risks, milestones, and stage gates to senior leadership, ensuring effective representation and advocacy for tech transfer initiatives.

You are proven leader with solid experience leading global teams to excel in standards, best practices, and tools throughout all TT phases.

Your expertise ensures a best-in-class transfer process, and as a key member of the Global Manufacturing Sciences Leadership team, you drive strategic initiatives.

You combine exceptional people leadership with Tech Transfer knowledge, you empower teams, make impactful decisions, and navigate conflicts seamlessly.


Required Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science. PMP certification, MBA, or MS strongly preferred.
  • BS with at least 10 years' experience, MS with at least 8 years' experience, or PhD with at least 6 years relevant experience.
  • Experience within biologics or Pharma (DS/DP) development, manufacturing, and/or a relevant project management function. Previous experience with technology transfer strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage complex projects.
  • Broad knowledge of technical areas within biopharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
  • People Leadership (Guiding, mentoring managing a global team of up to 15 TT Leads across various locations);
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills and be able to influence across, down, and up.
  • Must be comfortable leading change and be willing to challenge the status quo (including the established status quo within the tech transfer department)
  • Possess enthusiasm for learning, a continuous improvement mindset, and relentless curiosity.
