Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Generative AI Solution Architect at IBM Consulting, your main role is to design and implement complex GenAI solutions using IBM WatsonX and Ecosystem Partner Stacks, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Aleph Alpha, and Open Source.

Additionally, you will support business development, sales, and the execution of consulting and system integration projects in Data & AI for our clients.


  • End-to-end technical accountability throughout the acquisition, design, and execution of technically intricate GenAI projects on a global scale with international development teams.
  • Providing advice and assistance to clients and colleagues in designing and selecting the appropriate technology stack for adaptable, scalable, and cost-effective GenAI solutions.
  • Guiding clients and colleagues in adopting development and operational processes for AI solutions, including Agile DevOps, FinOps, Trustworthy AI, and MLOps methodologies.
  • Keeping up with the latest trends in the Artificial Intelligence market and research landscape, actively engaging in knowledge sharing within IBM Consulting, especially through mentoring junior team members and delivery teams.
  • Developing the strategy, vision, and roadmap for GenAI architectures within our consulting business, contributing to both immediate sales targets and long-term business expansion.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

We seek a professional with a minimum of 9 years of experience, preferably in data and analytics and/or architecture, with at least 3 years in the design, construction, and deployment of LLM's and foundation models.


You will also:

  • Have expertise in architecting AI solutions and overseeing the delivery of highly technical analytics use cases.
  • Be knowledgeable about technical stacks supporting Generative AI use cases such as AWS, Google, Microsoft, and Watson X.
  • Be familiar with relevant concepts (e.g., transformer model architectures, prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation architectures) and models/technologies like Microsoft Azure, AWS, Aleph Alpha, Hugging Face, and Open Source.
  • Possess strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with consultancy skills being a significant advantage.
  • Be capable of explaining complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Be fluent in English and German (or French).
