An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a highly motivated, multi-jurisdictional legal team.

You will work closely with the General Counsel GCS & iptiQ on a wide variety of projects and matters in support of iptiQ - Swiss Re's digital insurance business to help make the world more resilient.


About the Role
The role is a mid-level position, which demands high energy and self-confidence as well as pragmatism and curiosity.

As member of the Corporate Centre team of Legal iptiQ, you will actively provide and coordinate legal support for global projects, collaborations and joint ventures in the insurance industry with a strong technology angle.

This position will also provide the opportunity to establish and enhance processes and controls to proactively mitigate legal risks.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide corporate and insurance regulatory advice concerning different aspects of iptiQ's insurance business and operations, and advice on internal governance
  • Draft and negotiate corporate, commercial and insurance related agreements (e.g. NDA, MOU, Partnership Agreements, Outsourcing Agreements, Licensing Agreements)
  • Assist with regulatory and other topics related to our operating platform, technology, outsourcing, acquisitions and joint ventures amongst others, including via participation in meeting with regulators alongside other Swiss Re participants, where required
  • Provide and oversee corporate governance & secretariat as well as corporate housekeeping of Swiss, Dutch and other jurisdiction legal entities
  • Provide legal oversight of minority participations
  • Collaborate with other functions to document intragroup transactions
  • Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments, including via participation in relevant industry working groups and relationship with the Swiss Re regulatory affairs team
  • Collaborate with other members of the Swiss Re legal team regarding disputes, corporate governance, regulatory, technology, employment and intellectual property matters
  • Ensure that legal risks are promptly identified, communicated and mitigated, including by way of legal analysis and written legal reports
  • Prepare and deliver high quality management presentations, legal reports and internal policies and standards
  • Contribute to the improvements of our internal processes and the maintenance of a knowledge data base
  • Engage and manage external legal counsel
In this position you will report to the General Counsel GCS & iptiQ. Some travel required.

We are a multi-jurisdictional team composed of more than 25 legal professionals based in Europe, the US and Asia Pacific.

We are responsible for all legal matters relating to the business conducted by our licensed carriers.

This includes maintaining effective systems for the identification, management and control of legal risks, evaluating proposed business transactions and implementing effective governance processes.

About You

  • You are a fully (Swiss, English or equivalent) qualified corporate (insurance) lawyer with 5+ years' experience in a global re/insurance organization or law firm.
  • You are confident in your ability to drive matters and complex assignments independently while balancing the need to collaborate and maintain an appropriate level of communication and coordination with your peers.
  • You take accountability in an entrepreneurial environment, you are passionate about the success of the business, in the short and long term. You display a cando attitude and are comfortable navigating ambiguity.
  • You have excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • You demonstrate accountability, resilience when facing challenges and you are fully reliable, responsive and display a high level of energy.
  • You are fluent in English. Good command of other languages (preferably German) is an advantage.
  • You are recognised by clients for the pragmatic advice you provide, your sense of urgency and commercial mindset and by colleagues, for being an excellent teammate, always happy to assist others, collaborating and fully transparent, and for your good sense of humour.
  • You demonstrate humility, you are prepared to learn and have your strong technical knowledge challenged to explore new avenues.
  • You have experience of large international organisations.
