Über Toumani Gahigi:
I am 25 years old, and currently studying Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. I am also nearing the end of an internship and the Afro-European Medical Research Network (AEMRN) in Geneva, Switzerland.
AEMRN is an NGO that focuses on bridging the gap between Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe, to allow for a fluid exchange of ideas on medical practice techniques and data such as diseases prevalence, available therapies, access to those therapies and the cost implications for both government and patient.
Erfahrung
Having completed my first degree in Biomedical Sciences (BSc Hons), I moved back to Geneva as Covid was running rampant. I worked in a retail chain called Manor AG. I was in customer and office support there for a year and a half. My main duties were to engage with clients and stakeholders, promote their involvement with us, as well as, devising new strategies to increase the number of clients coming into our shops.
I am currently doing an internship with the Afro-European Medical Research Network (AEMRN). In November I went on a research mission with them to Rwanda. The goal of this mission was to gather data and information about Rwanda's healthcare system. My role is to support the medical professionals on-site by documenting meetings and providing relevant data on them to base some of their questions. We are currently organizing a conference at the United Nations in Geneva where members and health professionals from all over the world will come to share their findings and action points.
