Über Neil Barnett:

EAL and ESL teacher.

Erfahrung

I have recently passed a PGCEi qualification, with Merit. In the summer of 2018, I received a Master’s degree in Taiwan and Asia Pacific Studies from Tamkang University, and successfully undertook a CELTA course soon afterwards. I completed a 120 hour TEFL course in 2012, and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in History.

At the present time I am working with the Flying Teachers Agency as an Assistant Teacher. I assist English teachers who are delivering lessons to people who work in the hospitality industry. I am responsible for helping students during a variety of exercises, especially those who find the work more challenging. I also teach some lessons.

Between May 2021 and May 2022, I worked at Kasetsart Laboratory (Secondary) School in Bangkok, Thailand. I was the class teacher for a number of Year 7-13 classes (students aged between 11 and 18). I was responsible for planning and delivering lessons, as well as for the preparation and marking of assessments. Some of the older students were getting ready for major external English examinations. I frequently liaised with teachers in order to monitor the progress of individual pupils, and help them to overcome any difficulties that they experienced.

Between February and December 2020, I worked as a Learning Support Assistant at the London Nautical School. I assisted teachers with students who were in a number of different academic years, in a range of subjects. Students at this school came from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. I was responsible for helping students with learning difficulties, and those whose first language wasn’t English. I taught them reading, conversation and grammar skills. I also assisted teachers in managing and teaching entire classes of students.

I have extensive experience in teaching English, as a result of being employed as an English Editor at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand, between 2012 and 2015.  As can be seen from my Curriculum Vitae, my job at this organisation required me to conduct instruction in a wide range of different courses, and to interact with diverse groups of students. I am confident that I can apply the experience I have gained to any given classroom environment.

I would be very keen to use the skills that I have developed to assist people in learning the English language and therefore widening their knowledge and opportunities, whilst helping them to achieve their highest potential.
