Matheus Vo-Ngoc

Matheus Vo Ngoc (born in 1993) is a jurist specialized in intellectual property and copyright infringement from Lausanne, Switzerland. After graduating from UNIL with a master degree, he has been granted a culinary residency program at Deli Social (CH), participating alongside in the Art Market Studies dispensed by the UZH. During his profesionnal career he’s been active in various cultural and artistic institutions such as the Swiss Film Archive, VITRINE Gallery, Nieves Verlag, the Giacometti Foundation, Galerie Gregor Staiger, Galerie Peter Kilchmann and currently Studio AATB

Having grown up in Switzerland with Vietnamese and Brazilian parents allows him to have understandings and insights into both occidental, Southeast Asian and South American way of thinking. His work is therefore driven by Asian and Latino cultures and processed with a Swiss vision. 

Besides his personal explorations, he also co-founded a multidisciplinary project named « Cang tin » which aims to highlight the food and vernacular know-how of Vietnam through various mediums ranging from performances, objects to printed matters.

Studio AATB – Studio Manager

AATB is the collaborative practise of Andrea Anner and Thibault Brevet, both graduates from ECAL. Having previously worked on interactive objects and installations, they encountered an industrial robotic arm five years ago. This crystallised an ongoing research around human/machine interactions and led them to investigate the potential of robotics and industrial automation to exist outside the realm of factory floors. 

In 2023, I started to collaborate with the two artists in order to elevate the structure of their studio. My position as Studio Manager gave me the opportunity to bring a higher level of organisation and systematic way of processing projects. 

Projects developed since my debut include an exhibition in Sapporo International Art Festival (Jan. 2024), ArtGenève Teo Jakob Booth (Jan. 2024), Performance for Miles Greenberg at La Biennale di Venezia: an 8 hours performance installation by Miles Greenberg, based on the iconography of Saint Sebastian, during the opening weekend of the Venice Biennale.

Galerie Peter Kilchmann – Artist Liaison, Sales & Communication

Galerie Peter Kilchmann is an international gallery established in Zurich for 30 years. The gallery is considered as one of the top tier gallery spaces in Europe with its 3 gallery spaces. Its direct competitors in Switzerland include Galerie Eva Presenhuber and Hauser & Wirth. The program of the gallery include works by: Francis Alÿs, Leiko Ikemura, Paul Mpagi Sepuya. 

In 2022, I was hired as an artist liaison and sales person for the gallery. During this year, I produced two exhibitions, the Swiss Art Award Laureate of 2020, Marc Bauer, and an exhibition with curator Raphael Gygax. For the two aforementioned exhibitions, I was in charge of the direction, production, promotion and sales activities. The production of the exhibitions allowed me to work with multidisciplinary mediums combining Painting, Video, Sound installations. I also worked on the development of our new gallery space in Paris, which opened in September 2022. And I am pro actively participating in our presentations at Art Fairs such as: Art Basel: Basel; Art Basel Miami Beach; Paris+; Art Genève; MiArt.

Galerie Gregor Staiger – Director's assistant

Gregor Staiger is an international driven gallery that works with young emergent and established artists such as Nora Turato, Sonia Kacem, Nicolas Party or Walter Pfeiffer. As a relatively young gallery and team, the dynamic of the programs are explosive and expanding. 

In 2021, I was hired as an assistant for Gregor Staiger’s galerie. During this year, I worked on the production and presentation of the several fairs participation of the gallery including Art Basel, Frieze London, Paris Internationale and Miami Art Basel and also helped to monitor and produce the several exhibitions presented at our three locations in Zürich and Milano. I also conducted the development of the communication material for our different channels (website, social media), was involved with the artist liaison, participated in the sales of the gallery. 

Giacometti Foundation – Legal Counsel

During year 2020, I worked at the Giacometti Foundation where I helped to guarantee the production of various exhibitions and books including Cruel Objects of desire. A fully illustrated, bi-lingual French English catalogue, co-edited by the Giacometti Foundation, Paris, and FAGE Éditions, Lyon. My main tasks for these projects were to clear the intellectual property of various artists in these projects and provide contracts and/or loans for any third party involved in the production of books or exhibitions. 
 

Throughout my academic journey at the Universities of Lausanne and Zurich, I cultivated a proactive and systematic work approach, enabling me to successfully obtain my bachelor's and master's degrees in law and economics. My coursework in commercial law and entrepreneurship ignited my passion for detail-oriented work and complex project management skills that are vital for the success of a transdisciplinary role. My recent completion of a MAS program in the art market further bolsters my credentials, encompassing essential areas such as art law, management, communication and logistics.
