Über Dimitris Frangiadakis:
A software engineer with ~6 years of professional experience. Have worked on high-traffic projects as part of a team of 20 engineers (100k+ users) & have managed and developed a few smaller ones on my own (3k+ users). Plenty of experience in new features development & legacy systems maintenance. A polyglot philosophy, with strong foundations in web application best practices & design patterns.

During and after my internship at CERN in 2016, I started working for ESN, where I worked on many iterations of an event registration web application. It was designed, implemented, deployed & maintained by me. Its first iteration was developed using CodeIgniter & MySQL. Its second version was developed utilizing the Laravel web framework & React, implementing payment processing, queues & sync/cache services. I was also managing our infrastructure on Azure and set up the services to be run in Docker containers.
During my time at ESN, I took on a lot of responsibility, as I was part of multiple organizing committees responsible for coordinating events for 3000+ participants, where I was co-managing the logistics of the events and also communicating with our key partners to ensure that these events would be executed to perfection. Another aspect of my work there was my extreme exposure to a multicultural environment that helped me further develop as a person.
I then served my mandatory service as a Full-stack software engineer conscript in Greece, where I was part of an 8-person Scrum team in the Research & Development Department of the Hellenic Armed Forces developing REST applications, powered by React, Symfony & Oracle Database. My primary duties involved designing the business logic, developing new features & taking on tasks such as optimizing slow endpoints. This was the first time I worked on a large-scale mission-critical application, serving more than 100.000 users.
My army experience gave me a new sense of discipline and further ingrained in me the importance of accountability and getting things done effectively and on time. It is also where I perfected the balance of having to ask for permission to perform tasks and taking initiative.
Following my service, I started working for XM (xm.com), a global trading & investment firm. I was part of a team of 20 engineers and was focused on maintaining & developing new features and services for the client area, mostly using Symfony and React. During my time at XM, I became exposed to the business side of the world of trading & investment. I loved the attention to detail & security in this dynamic environment.
After XM, I returned to Switzerland and started working once again for CERN, by joining the Zenodo & InvenioRDM team. Zenodo is the biggest open-source scientific repository, where researchers from all over the world upload their research data to be preserved forever. My main tech stack at the Zenodo team is Python Flask, React, Elasticsearch & PostgreSQL.
In parallel to these, a few years ago I became part of a global team writing software for a blockchain project. One of my greatest achievements is developing an SDK for PHP for this blockchain, which has been used in production by an online casino. I also developed tipping bots for Telegram and Reddit, using PHP & Python.
Bildung
I got a Master's & a Bachelor's degree from Harokopio University of Athens.
