Description of Research / Your activities:

The research will focus on the intersections of governance structures, power arrangements and interplays, and energy justice in socio-technical transitions to low-carbon energy systems.

There will be a strong theoretical focus on understanding the underlying power dynamics of how actors shape views of energy governance, actions, who is included and excluded in energy decision-making and various impacts.

The research aims to provide a more comprehensive means of framing and analysing just energy transitions, and how power relations and distributions shape, enable and impede energy transitions in local energy projects.

The PhD-student will also be invited to empirically investigate certain aspects in local energy projects through qualitative research in the context of specific regions in Switzerland and Europe.

In combination with the in-depth theoretical and empirical work, the PhD-student is encouraged to engage with societal actors through transdisciplinary inquiry and action research.
