    Job Description

    Welcome to the Research Fellowship: Applied Physics and Engineering.

    The Research Fellowship Programme targets PhD holders in applied science and engineering, with up to 3 years of post-PhD experience. Individuals are applying for a program, not a specific job, providing an opportunity to share their motivation during the online application. Candidates with a PhD, focusing on experimental or theoretical physics, should consider the designated fellowships.

    Qualifications

    Prerequisites for the program:

    • You are a national of a Member State. Limited positions for Non-Member States.
    • Hold or are close to obtaining a PhD in fields relevant to applied physics and engineering such as Physics, Electronics, Mechanics, Computer Science, Mathematics, etc. Completion within 6 months of the application deadline. Finished PhD studies before joining CERN.
    • Have up to 3 years of research experience post-PhD. Exceptions considered for up to 6 years.
    • CERN Staff members are ineligible.

    Additional Information

    CERN values your expertise, commitment, and passion. You can expect:

    • Employment contract for 24 months, extendable to 36 months.
    • Monthly stipend of 6,650 Swiss francs (net of tax).
    • Health coverage, CERN Pension Fund membership.
    • Additional allowances based on circumstances and travel expenses.
    • 2.5 days of paid leave per month.
