Postdoctoral Research Position at the Laboratory of Mechanical Metallurgy, Institute of Materials:

Your mission:

Main duties and responsibilities include:

Your profile:

Applicants are expected to be nearing the end of their PhD degree or to have earned their PhD within four years of October 2024, with a top-level academic education and a proven track record in conducting and publishing outstanding research in the field of physical metallurgy.

Skills of direct interest include a strong command of the following:
metallurgical processing, microstructural characterization and the mechanical behavior of metallic materials with a particular interest on aluminum alloys.

Additionally, expertise in, or the capability and eagerness to learn, the following is expected:

- solidification theory;
- magnetohydrodynamics (and electromagnetism);
- capillarity;
- transport phenomena.

The working language at EPFL is English (fluency in both oral and written expression are essential). Although proficiency in French is not mandatory, it is desirable notably for teaching-related activities. The motivation and ability to excel in science and teaching are essential.
