GSK's Oncology portfolio consists of 3 pillars:

  • Breast & Gynaecologic Oncology (BGO) with its launched products Zejula and Jemperli (Endometrial and Ovarian Cancer)
  • Pipeline with several assets in development across several therapeutic areas including lung cancer, head & neck, and GIcancers.
  • Haematology is a focus area with BLENREP as key asset in Multiple Myeloma as well as Omjjara in Myelofibrosis


Medical Affairs is a critical pillar alongside R&D and the commercial organization to ensure that our medicines reach the appropriate patients.

GSK has committed to building a new oncology business, with initial focus on selected EU markets.


The person taking on this role will work closely with their peers in Clinical Development, Value Evidence, Market Access and Commercial in region, global and local operating company (LOC) to cocreate and execute strategy for BGO, especially in Endometrial and Ovarian Cancer.

This person will be directly responsible for leading the Niraparib and Dostarlimab program within the Breast and Gynaecological oncology group for European Markets


The EU Medical Affairs Lead BGO is the go-to person for this therapeutic area in Europe, who possesses strong leadership skills, demonstrated experience in navigating uncertainty, credibility and skills across pharmaceutical medicine and business acumen.

The position requires a hands-on mentality to ensure execution of own initiatives internally and externally but also leads matrix teams as well as direct reports.

This position reports to the VP & Europe Medical Head, Oncology Europe.


This is a highly visible, influential leadership role, requiring excellent networking, communication and influencing skills to work effectively in a highly matrixed environment.


Purpose

  • The incumbent will be accountable for providing the vision and leadership to ensure Medical Affairs excellence and to be a strategic scientific partner to both internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Accountable for ensuring the regional medical organisation for the disease area has the right capabilities to deliver outstanding execution of plans, for performance management of the medical operational plan and evidence generation for the key markets in the region.
  • This role will be the regional lead for strategy & operational plan development across Europe. They will support the execution of the plan alongside country leads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build additional scientific leadership to provide greater insights and significant external presence to support and lead GSK's BGO portfolio in Europe Responsible for Medical Affairs Activities relating to the assigned products and disease area, (including field medical activities) in conjunction with the Global Medical Directors, Area Medical Directors, and Country Medical Leads as appropriate.
  • Act as the medical partner to the Regional/ Area Therapeutic Commercial Organisation.
  • Ensures the medical unmet need is deeply understood, synthesised into medical insights, and clearly translated into appropriate actions to enable appropriate use of our medicines for patients in the region.
  • Leads the development and execution of regionally and cross functionally aligned medical plans for the assigned medicines within the specific Therapeutic area. (S)he is accountable for medical plan development and strategic deployment of all medical resources to achieve joint objectives.
  • Leads evidence gap analysis for the therapeutic area and ensure its integration to global integrated evidence plan.
  • Oversee Phase IIIb/IV clinical development plans and Investigatorsponsored studies, for the assigned assets in the Europe by providing a consolidated regional perspective into longterm global clinical and value evidence strategies.
  • Advocate for medical resources/data needed to support successful commercialization of products.
  • Lead the scientific and external engagement strategy for the asset/ disease area within the region.
  • Support the countries in external scientific communications and evidence dissemination.
  • Maintains deep product and disease expertise on the medicine(s) and includes market and competitive knowledge in ovarian and endometrial cancers.
  • Support the product specific training for medical teams in the countries to deepen the product and scientific knowledge within the disease area.
  • Enable a performance driven culture with clear metrics and business improvement embedded into the organization and be accountable for metrics to measure and communicate assetrelated Medical Affairs activities to demonstrate the value and achievements.
