We are looking for an Underwriter and/or Credit lead who will collaborate with the Chief Underwriting Officer of the Credit & Surety Reinsurance unit in all business steering, portfolio management and governance activities.


What will be your main responsibilities?

  • Business steering and portfolio management, from strategic, financial, and capacity planning, to monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on key industry trends, portfolio developments, and key performance indicators to senior management.
  • Maintaining and constantly improving the Credit & Surety Underwriting (C&S UW) governance, compliance and costing frameworks, including underwriting standards and authorities, referral approvals, capacity and limits monitoring, and costing parameter setting and review processes, in close collaboration with C&S UW, Global Specialty Centre, SRI, Risk Management, P&C Business Management, as well as with SR Corporate Solutions.
  • Act as the center of competence for C&S (re)insurance products and industry trends, support underwriters in their daily business, and coordinate and support technical education and knowledge transfers.
  • Handle and support internal initiatives and projects for the department and for Global Specialty, such as our Data & Analytics initiative to foster datadriven insights on macroeconomic, geopolitical and industry trends.
  • Handle the C&S UW expense budget, including planning, monitoring, and reporting.

About the Team
Credit & Surety Underwriting reinsures clients in Credit, Surety and Political Risk Insurance worldwide. Being part of the Global Specialty unit, the team is located in several premises across Americas, Europe and Asia.


About You:


  • University degree or equivalent, preferably in business administration, natural sciences, economics, or law
  • Knowledge of C&S (re)insurance with at least 7 years of proven experience, preferably as an underwriter and/or product manager is a must
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, capable of taking care of large data sets
  • Selfstarter with high degree of curiosity and drive to deliver results while keeping the bigger picture in sight
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, further languages are a plus
  • Strong sense of ownership & accountability
  • Proven project and process leadership skills
  • Motivated and able to work as an encouraging teammate and networker in a multicultural and complex environment
