Your tasks:


As an assistant researcher in the field of law, economics, and technology, you will do research and support teaching in the areas of platform regulation with a view to fundamental rights and democracy, digital markets regulation with a Global South or comparative perspective, issues related to gender equality and digital technologies, intellectual property and the cultural and knowledge economy from international and developing economies' perspectives, and rights-driven data and AI regulation issues.

You will provide organizational support to teaching activities and administrative matters.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate in publications and dissemination activities as preparation for research talks and academic contributions to the policy arena.

Furthermore, you will have the chance to research related topics of your own interest. You will be working with Mariana Valente, assistant professor for international economic law and law & economics.


Your profile:

You are a curious and creative person who likes to get to the bottom of complex issues. You are interested in interdisciplinary issues, especially in the intersection of law, economics, new technologies, and development issues. You are interested in the law as an instrument for social and economic change. You have great English skills in written and oral forms and have a flair for good writing.

You have a Bachelor's or a Master's degree with very good grades, show commitment, appreciate working independently, are flexible, and are a team player.

Prior experience or research focus on the abovementioned themes, and some knowledge in either Portuguese or Spanish are appreciated, though not mandatory.

You will start work, preferably in March or April 2023. The working hours are flexible, and a partial home office is possible. Depending on your time commitment, you should generally be present in the office in St.

Gallen once or twice a week and be available to support classes and other activities in person on set dates.


You will be part of a small team with a special connection to Brazil that also aims to strengthen the academic relationship between Switzerland and South America.

The team belongs to the IFF-HSG, where more than 40 researchers deal with societal challenges at the intersection of law & economics.
